About This Job:


The Associate Director, Project Value Delivery & Capabilities, is part of a new global team that came into existence in April this year and is part of the Transformation Office. The focus of this role will be to manage/enhance the delivery of an increasing number of business projects supporting our growth and development as a mid-size Pharma company. These projects are linked to our Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP) and will support multiple divisions and functions across the organisation.

As the business transforms this role will have a unique view across enterprise initiatives and will be a balance of advisory and hands on execution.


Key Responsibilities are noted below:


  • Lead execution and provide internal consultative services for strategic initiatives supporting the CSP.
  • Manage execution through the development of business cases, project charters and governance, develop and report milestone updates of initiative implementation. Lead initiative meetings, identify risks and mitigation, develop resource planning and manage timelines/budgets.
  • Act as a change agent to ensure continued project delivery success and collaborate with business partners to ensure successful project implementation through the deployment of PM tools, processes and personnel.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership in collaboration with project leaders in the development of appropriate KPIs and actively provide mitigation/ course correction plans
  • Proactively identify and manage risks / mitigation plans
  • Actively participate and provide leadership as an SME in the global Astellas Project Management Center of Excellence (CoE) 
  • Update and continuously improve best practices and as part of lessons learned to bring knowledge and visibility to the organization


Essential Knowledge & Experience:


  • Solid Project Management experience preferably from within the Healthcare/Pharmaceutical industry, executing large, cross functional or global initiatives within business operations
  • team contributor, leading multiple projects and processes  
  • Demonstrated leadership in a matrix organization, able to motivate and inspire teams and influence without authority
  • Proven decision-making skills leading to successful outcomes and the ability to present complex issues to senior leaders
  • Fluent in verbal and written business English with solid communication skills. Able to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships across the business (particularly in a remote environment)
  • Experience of working with individuals with different cultural backgrounds & learning styles
  • Intermediate to Advanced competency across MS Project, SharePoint and project tools


Preferred Experience:


  • Demonstrated understanding or experience in commercial strategic and/or business planning and governance
  • Pharma knowledge of product launches/commercialization
  • Current/experience in a global organization (e.g., Americas, Europe and Japan
  • Experience with project management and/or portfolio management software


Education/Qualifications:


Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in related field
