About this job:



This is a new opportunity for an Accountant to join Astellas on a fixed term contract basis in our EMEA Business Services team, supporting Finance Controllers across varied business units by providing accounting, controlling and reporting activities.

Also to note, as this team also acts as a bridge between 3rd party providers and the Accounting Operations Leads then you will also work closely with our BPO.

There will also be the opportunity to be involved in Continuous Improvement initiatives, to help drive efficiencies and best practice ways of working. Responsibilities to include:



  • Supporting month-end activities of the BPO
  • Ensuring the timely approval of Purchase Orders, supplier invoices and expense claims, required by the 3rd party provider.
  • Working with the EMEA Finance Manager to ensure the integrity of transactions processed by the BPO via ongoing monitoring & analysis.
  • Working with a Senior Accountant to ensure Master Data accuracy and integrity
  • Supporting with the provision of sales reporting
  • Providing ad-hoc requests for information and analysis from the business
  • Reviewing payment proposals to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Supporting audit activity
  • Ensuring standardisation across EMEA for business services provided
  • Working on the Continuous Improvement of processes and systems



Essential Knowledge & Experience:



  • Proven Accountancy experience, ideally gained in a global, matrix environment
  • Some experience of end-to-end processes but also in an outsourced model  
  • The ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
  • Compliance mind-set
  • The ability to appropriately influence, challenge and engage diverse stakeholders
  • A keen interest in identifying improvements and increased efficiencies
  • Ability to work autonomously and make evidence-based decisions
  • Excellent attention to detail with an analytic mind-set
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Strong IT skills including Excel

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:



  • Strong preference for experience in SAP S/4HANA
  • Pharma experience potentially of benefit although not essential

Educations/Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant CIMA, ACA, ACCA OR relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of international accounting standards and SOX
