About This Job


The Commercial IS team have an opportunity for a Global Commercial IS Applications Manager to be accountable for a portfolio of IS Commercial Platforms or applications supporting the Market Access and Pricing and Events and Congress capability areas.  Ensuring solution(s) are for purpose and fit for purpose and compliant with standards and procedures (e.g. GxP, regulatory requirements etc.)  and provide technical authority, design authority and governance across the lifetime of agreed products/solutions, making recommendations that enable both business and technical decision making.


In addition the incumbent will:


  • Contribute to integration architecture framework and its constituent artefacts in developing new products and services through appropriate and tailored architecture methods
  • Provide inputs to the leadership (and colleagues) to bring together business, application, infrastructure and data requirements into a single view of solutions options and recommendations
  • Understand and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide credible technical expertise and insight to senior stakeholders and (as appropriate) to external customers. 
  • Oversee technical delivery and integrity of various integration projects working collaboratively ad constructively with various stakeholders ensuring appropriate and timely updates on status (Business, BAU Operations Managers, BIMs, Application Managers, Service providers, IT compliance and Architect Team) to ensure efficient and optimal utilization of integration solutions
  • Review the end-to-end integration of Applications/Platforms globally to ensure continuous operations and stable functionality
  • Ensure the simplification and re-use of architecture elements within solutions
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring estimates are completed in line with the agreed solution and that assumption are stated and consistent
  • Maintain an expert level of technical knowledge (Level 4) in the required technical areas and a broader specialist base as new technologies emerge.
  • Verify and validate the integration solution proposed by suppliers
  • Ensure the business architecture is aligned to the target integration architecture

Essential Knowledge & Experience


  • Pharma sector experience in multi-disciplinary, global, matrix and multi-cultural environments
  • Demonstrable experience of Commercial IT platforms supporting commercial operations is preferred, ideally with experience in the event management, pricing and commercial contracts domains.
  • Understands the industry landscape for these and related applications and tools to establish and measure KPIs and benchmarks
  • Experience in complex cross-platform digital transformation programs and environments
  • Strong customer focus and stakeholder engagement experience to senior levels across business and IS
  • Track-record of leading planning process with excellent organisational and collaboration skills
  • Proven compliance expertise; to understand and comply with industry laws and relevant regulations.
  • Coaching and collaboration skills to interact with all levels of personnel to achieve shared goals.
  • Demonstrable examples of ability to develop, coach and enable high performance teams and proactively promote best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Proven ability to influence, (appropriately) challenge and engage diverse senior stakeholders. 
  • Process Management including re-engineering, version control, process mapping etc.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal and presentation skills in business English
  • Demonstrates an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Able to mentor Solution Providers and able to approve the solutions and evaluate the work effort and estimations
  • Ability to operate in multi-functional teams (local and matrix) and independently as required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including facilitation, negotiation, collaboration and influencing
  • Proven compliance expertise; to understand and comply with industry laws and relevant regulations.
  • Demonstrable examples of ability to develop, coach and enable high performance teams and proactively promote best practice and knowledge sharing.

Educations/Qualifications


  • Degree educated and/or equivalent professional qualification and/or proven expertise.
