About This Job:

The Senior Manager Commercial Insights position has responsibility for developing and maintaining an accurate view of the Global market conditions for the assigned products and Therapy Areas, providing primary and secondary market research, forecasting and competitive intelligence. This position is also responsible for maintaining an accurate picture of assigned product performance along with the risks and opportunities.

Key Activities are noted below:

  • Lead global commercial analysis activities for assigned product.  Provide forward looking insights to advance understanding of the relevant markets, competitors and customers with the aim of delivering major competitive advantage for Astellas’ products and development strategy
  • For Brand Insights projects, lead the identification of information needs, development of market research/data analysis plan, execution of the research process, and communication of actionable insights within assigned products
  • Coordinate across Commercial Division Insights and Strategy teams, Data Strategy, Advanced, Analytics & Reporting and Commercial Forecasting functions to ensure integrated and consistent communication of insights and implications, tied back to brand strategies and objectives
  • Lead complex market research activities in support of brand strategies
  • Develop deep understanding of the market landscape which includes market potential, market trends, unmet medical and patient needs, market access challenges and competitors’ trend for each of the assigned products
  • Work together with finance to provide forecasting and budgeting expertise to the BGM team.  Reconcile financial assumptions to ensure consistency of forecasts across regions, and understand the rationale for differences where appropriate 
  • Provide overall Product market intelligence guidance to the global brand team
  • Communicate key business findings and insights to the relevant cross functional stakeholders

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Solid experience from within the pharmaceutical industry or other related healthcare fields within market research, competitive intelligence, analysis or strategic consulting
  • Experience in identifying, evaluating, and translating primary and secondary data sources and analysis to provide unbiased, objective, in-depth understanding of the market, product performance, customers, and competitors and support global franchise strategy.
  • Experience in project management: able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of the broad functions of a global pharmaceutical organization along with business strategy, products and customers in this environment
  • Global knowledge and ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment
  • Strong financial acumen and a good understanding of the Business Planning Process in a Pharmaceutical organization
  • Experience of identifying, evaluating, and translating primary and secondary data sources/ analysis to provide unbiased, objective understanding of the market, product performance, customers, and competitors to support brand strategy
