The Opportunity:
Are you passionate about financial accuracy and compliance? Join Astellas as a Central Financial Reviewer and play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our global financial operations. In this position, you’ll oversee affiliate accounts, monitor balance sheet reconciliations, and drive robust financial governance across the organization. Your expertise will help us maintain transparency, meet audit standards, and deliver timely, high-quality reporting.
This role exists to safeguard the quality and reliability of affiliate financial data before consolidation into regional or group accounts. You will manage month-end close processes, coordinate statutory reporting, and act as a central point for audits and internal controls, ensuring compliance with J-SOX and other governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review and monitor affiliate accounts to Trial Balance level, using flux and trend analysis to explain key movements.
- Partner with General Accounting to create and manage month-end timetables for close cycles.
- Investigate and resolve aged, uncleared balance sheet items with affiliates and BPO partners.
- Perform balance sheet sampling to assess reconciliation quality and policy adherence.
- Oversee compliance with reconciliation standards and timeliness, including automated approvals.
- Operate central J-SOX controls such as manual journal reviews and Control Radar reporting.
- Track key control indicators (e.g., intercompany imbalances, accrual levels, DSO trends).
- Act as the central liaison for internal and external audits, providing analysis and transactional data.
- Monitor statutory financial statement completion for affiliates and ensure compliance with timetables.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to transformation projects.
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
- Solid experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, J-SOX/SOX frameworks, and financial governance.
- Proven experience in responding to audits and working with external auditors and tax authorities.
- Prior experience in a multinational environment and matrix organization preferred.
- Strong knowledge accounting process and review methodologies.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP), BPC and Excel.
- Familiarity with Shared Service or Global Capability Centre collaboration models.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
- Very high attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
Education/Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- ACA /or ACCA/or CPA and/or equivalent accounting qualification or experience.
Additional Information:
- This is a permanent role based in our Global Capability Centre in Warsaw, Poland and hybrid working with the expectation for some office presence. Flexibility may be required in line with business need. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
