The Opportunity: 

As the Lead TA Oncology Lead you will be responsible for the implementation of the medical strategy (Core Medical Plan) in the designated therapeutic area at the affiliate level by coordinating and executing medical / scientific activities to (i) understand the local external environment and data gaps; (ii) translate insights into strategies and activities and; (iii) ensure the information needs of key stakeholders are fulfilled to help ensure the safe and appropriate use of Astellas products.

The role reports to the Head of Medical Affairs – Poland, Czechia, Slovakia & Ukraine (PCSU) and is based at our commercial affiliate offices in Warsaw, Poland.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing Scientific Expertise & External Engagement – Will maintain deep knowledge of the therapeutic area and engage with external stakeholders (e.g., HCPs, payers) to gather and share scientific intelligence, ensuring alignment with current and future medical needs.
  • Responsible for Medical Strategy & Insights Integration - Leading the development and execution of Core Medical Plans (CMPs), incorporating actionable medical insights and aligning with global and local strategies to support product lifecycle and launch activities.
  • Partnering with internal teams (Commercial, Regulatory, Clinical Operations, Market Access) to provide scientific support, ensure compliance, and contribute to strategic planning and execution.
  • Delivering scientific education to internal and external stakeholders, manage non-promotional materials, and support data generation and communication to address information needs and support access strategies.
  • Ensuring all activities comply with internal policies and external regulations, support research and education funding processes, and engage with key external experts (KEEs) to foster scientific exchange and collaboration.

Essential Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Demonstrable experience within medical affairs in the pharmaceutical industry and ideally in Oncology.
  • Extensive understanding of the drug development process as well as commercialisation
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of industry laws and regulations.
  • Experienced in managing complex projects independently (such as but not limited to AdBoards, Publications, Preceptorship, etc.
  • Excellent presentation skills; fully fluent in written and verbal business English and Polish.

Preferred Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (MD, PhD in health related science or PharmD)

Education/Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Molecular Biology or other scientific discipline or equivalent.

Additional Information:

  • This is a permanent full-time position.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time including overnight travel within Poland.
  • This position is based at our commercial affiliate offices in Warsaw, Poland. Candidates must live within a commutable distance.
  • This position follows our hybrid working model. Role requires a blend of home and a minimum of 1 day per quarter in our local office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
