Location and Working Environment


  • This position is hybrid and will require you to be onsite 2 days per week in our Bourne office, UK.

Purpose & Scope


  • The Medical Engagement Content Lead III is responsible for delivering high-quality scientific content across Field Medical, internal training, and global omnichannel engagement. You’ll create and shape central content, frameworks, and customer journeys that bring evidence to life in ways that align with HCP needs and preferences.
  • In this role, you’ll translate complex data into clear, engaging scientific narratives, with a strong focus on messaging, storytelling, and user experience to support better clinical understanding and patient outcomes.
  • As part of the Medical Engagement Chapter, you’ll work cross-functionally and play a key role within a brand-specific Evidence Dissemination Value Team—often leading the planning and execution of integrated evidence dissemination strategies aligned to brand goals, using agile ways of working.


Role and Responsibilities


  • Leading the Evidence Dissemination Value Team, driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Creating and executing integrated Evidence Dissemination Plans aligned to product strategy.
  • Contributing to Medical Product Strategy and the Core Medical Plan as part of the MAT.
  • Aligning with global and local stakeholders to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Engaging cross-functionally to shape content needs, formats, and improvements.
  • Staying current with industry trends and evolving HCP engagement preferences.
  • Owning delivery through effective timeline, budget, and vendor management.

Scientific Content Ownership


  • Leading scientific storytelling, messaging, and omnichannel frameworks.
  • Creating global customer journey templates for local adaptation.
  • Delivering evidence-based Field Medical content to support HCP engagement.
  • Developing key assets including congress materials, manuscripts, and digital content.
  • Creating Veeva-approved and short-form content for omnichannel use.
  • Supporting internal training and HCP education through reusable content.
  • Tailoring content to meet diverse audience and channel needs.


Scientific Content Governance:

  • Owning the review and approval process, ensuring compliance with Astellas SOPs
  • Ensuring all content is scientifically accurate, high-quality, fair, balanced, and non-promotional
  • Overseeing the resolution of reviewer feedback, managing complex or conflicting inputs
  • Leading the measurement of evidence dissemination impact and shaping value narratives for the brand
  • Assessing performance metrics and continuously optimizing content effectiveness


Leadership:


  • Leading the Brand-Specific Evidence Dissemination Value Team, managing backlog and sprint delivery
  • Running daily stand-ups, showcases, and retrospectives following agile methodology
  • Mentoring Medical Engagement Content Leads and other team members, enabling capability development through preceptorship


Required Qualifications

 

  • MSc in a life science or healthcare-related field, with preference for PharmD, Pharmacist, PhD or MD
  • Extensive experience Medical Affairs/ Medical Communication role (preferably in external engagement, content creation/delivery and material review)
  • Strong ability to influence without authority and resolve conflicts
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in working in global matrix environment
  • Ability to quickly adopt to digital tools and platform
  • Expert experience in scientific narrative, storytelling and messaging
  • In depth knowledge on legal/ regulatory/ code requirements for non-promotional content
  • Expert ability to translate complex scientific knowledge into compelling visuals/ narratives
  • Demonstrates Business Acumen
  • In depth knowledge of clinical design/ drug development and interpretation of clinical trial results
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Agile ways of working
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with successful outcome


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Preferred PhD, PharmD, MD
  • Interest in / or knowledge of Astellas relevant therapeutic areas
  • Line Managerial, mentoring or people leadership experience
  • Experience with AI content generation use
