Location and Working Environment
This position follows our hybrid working model. The role requires a blend of home and minimum 2 - 3 days per week in our local office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.

Purpose & Scope
- You are responsible for implementing the medical strategy, following the Astellas Medical Impact model, within your assigned therapeutic area at the affiliate level. You coordinate and execute medical and scientific activities to understand the local external environment and identify data gaps. You translate these insights into strategies and actions, ensuring that key stakeholders receive the information they need to support the safe and appropriate use of Astellas products.
- In this role, you provide strategic medical and scientific expertise to support all affiliate Medical Affairs deliverables and cross functional initiatives. You demonstrate matrix leadership by building and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that Medical Affairs activities address local needs and enhance the medical and scientific understanding of Astellas products throughout their lifecycle.
- You are responsible for engaging external stakeholders to advance knowledge of compounds in development, the safe and effective use of Astellas products, and the diseases they treat. You also work closely with internal stakeholders, including affiliate brand teams, to help achieve business objectives. You ensure that all Medical Affairs activities deliver value, are scientifically sound, clinically relevant, and completed on time and within budget.
- Focus on genitourinary (GU) oncology.
Role and Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted scientific partner for peer-to-peer exchange with Key External Experts (KEEs) and other relevant healthcare stakeholders.
- Engage in scientific discussions on disease areas, products, emerging data, and evolving treatment paradigms to support safe and effective use of Astellas products.
- Execute approved medical field activities aligned with the affiliate Core Medical Plan, including scientific exchange, medical education initiatives, and launch-related medical support.
- Gather, document, and communicate actionable medical insights from the field to internal stakeholders to inform Medical Affairs and cross-functional planning.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across Medical Affairs and other functions (e.g. Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Regulatory), while maintaining clear role boundaries and compliance.
- Maintain a high level of scientific and clinical expertise in the therapeutic area and local healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with prior experience in Medical Affairs or a scientific exchange role.
- Suitable candidates from academia with strong expertise in the therapeutic area — including clinical or hospital practice, clinical development, and experience in designing, executing, and reporting clinical trials — can be considered.
- Understanding of the drug development process as well as commercialization.
- Preferably, a good understanding of the dynamics of a large corporate environment and comfort working within matrix reporting lines.
- Knowledge and strong understanding of, and ability to comply with, industry regulations and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- MD, PhD, or PharmD qualification.
- Doctoral degree (MD, PhD in a health related science, or PharmD).
- Contributing to and supporting onboarding and development activities for colleagues, for example by acting as a buddy, mentor, or coach.
- Demonstration of successfully completed delegated responsibilities, such as acting as a back up for a Therapy Area Lead during key internal or external meetings.
