The Opportunity:
As a Public Affairs Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for leading the overarching Global Public Affairs (PA) strategy development and implementation across the enterprise.
You will work closely with the Head of Public Affairs in forming and driving the global public affairs functional capability across key internal stakeholders and leadership. Among other responsibilities you will focus on developing clear Global Public Affairs strategic priorities and driving alignment with commercial and corporate strategy, sustainability, corporate communications, and patient centricity.
In this role, you will work & collaborate with key business functions within the global commercial organization as well as other internal stakeholders to ensure the Company’s policy efforts support business objectives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate the Global Public Affairs strategy and implementation plan and activities across the organisation.
- Lead capability building across the company to enhance governmental affairs impact and effectiveness, support managing and reviewing the ROI of Trade Association investments and presence.
- Manage performance of external services providers that support Global Public Affairs in terms of advocacy and intelligence.
- Act as the key liaison with the CxO Office, Integrated Planning Office, Corporate Strategy and Patient Centricity function to ensure actionable insights from PA intelligences are incorporated into both risk assessments and commercial planning.
- Build or alter systems and platforms to enhance efficiency and quality of Global Public Affairs deliverables and support the Head of PA in driving overarching strategic projects that progress Astellas’ Global Public Affairs objectives both internally and externally.
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
- Extensive strategic project management experience, or in related fields.
- Expertise in creating and developing government policy positions in a corporate setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of pharmaceutical market access in key markets globally.
- Experience working collaboratively in a team and cross-functionally in an organization.
- Supportive of collaborative thinking and problem solving with others in the organization.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively address all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple projects.
Preferred Experience:
- Pharmaceutical/healthcare industry marketing experience.
- Experience in working within corporate strategy or transformation offices.
- Experience with national and/or state/regional healthcare industry associations.
- Government or political experience – legislative / parliamentary / regulatory agency.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Additional Information:
- This is a permanent, full-time position.
- This position is based in the United Kingdom.
- This position follows our hybrid working model. Role requires a blend of home and a minimum of 1 day per quarter in our Addlestone, United Kingdom office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
