Location and Working Environment
This position is 100% onsite in Tralee, Ireland.
Purpose & Scope
- Reporting directly to the Engineering Projects & Systems Lead, the Senior Systems & OT Infrastructure Engineer will operate within the Systems Engineering team, overseeing the design, implementation, and operational support of manufacturing systems infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable, secure, and compliant operation of IT and OT systems that underpin critical manufacturing operations. This role is positioned to bridge the gap between traditional IT infrastructure and industrial automation, ensuring modern IT standards are applied appropriately within time critical and vendor constrained manufacturing systems.
Role and Responsibilities
- Design and support resilient, compliant OT architectures for PLC/SCADA, DCS, MES, historians, and vendor-packaged systems.
- Manage and optimise OT infrastructure including servers, virtualisation, storage, backup, recovery, and lifecycle processes.
- Lead technical activities across system delivery phases including design reviews, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ.
- Own and support OT system interfaces, industrial communications, and integrations using OPC, file transfer, and related protocols.
- Coordinate with Automation, IT, Quality, Cyber Security, and external vendors to deliver secure, integrated manufacturing environments.
- Maintain high-availability manufacturing systems through troubleshooting, network configuration, patching, validation, and incident response.
Required Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, with significant senior-level experience in OT, industrial IT, or manufacturing systems within regulated industries.
- Strong expertise in IT/OT infrastructure including server operating systems, virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V), backup/disaster recovery, OT networks, and cybersecurity in manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience supporting automation and manufacturing systems, including PLC/SCADA/DCS architectures, CQV activities, and full SDLC delivery.
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, technical troubleshooting across infrastructure/network/application layers, and driving continuous improvement through strong communication and proactive problem-solving.
