The Opportunity:

As an Affiliate Medical Affairs Lead, you are responsible for implementing the medical and brand strategy within the designated therapeutic area (Specialty, including Women’s Health and Urology) at the affiliate level. 

This includes creating and executing medical and scientific activities to: (1) understand the local environment and identify data gaps; (2) translate insights into strategies and tactics, including evidence generation; and (3) ensure that the information needs of key stakeholders are met to support the safe and effective use of Astellas medicines.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the therapeutic area by maintaining in depth knowledge of current and emerging treatments, the patient journey, unmet clinical needs, and future developments. Act as a scientific expert by engaging in high quality, non promotional scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, key external experts, payers, healthcare decision makers, and guideline authors, building trusted relationships and effectively communicating relevant clinical and scientific evidence.
  • Gather and share competitive scientific intelligence and clinical insights with internal stakeholders, translating field insights into clear, actionable tactics aimed at improving clinical understanding and/or patient outcomes.
  • Provide strategic scientific input into data generation initiatives, including Real World Evidence and data purchase projects, to close data gaps and meet the needs of healthcare professionals and payers. Collaborate with market access and external affairs teams during reimbursement or listing discussions with payers and hospitals when required.
  • Offer strategic scientific and clinical expertise to support cross functional activities (Marketing, Market Access, External Affairs, Sales), deliver state of the art therapeutic area and product training, and support the review and approval of promotional materials to ensure scientific integrity and compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Create and execute medical tactics and projects—such as advisory engagements, healthcare professional consultancies, data generation activities, and educational events between healthcare professionals—in alignment with the Integrated Global Brand Plan.
  • Provide scientific input into commercially driven initiatives to maximise scientific value for internal and external stakeholders, including activities such as webinars, speaker briefings, and market research.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • MD and/or doctoral degree in health-related science.

Education/Qualification: 

  • Master’s degree in health-related science or equivalent.

Additional Information: 

  • Type of role full-time permanent.
  • Location Denmark office (Copenhagen) or Sweden.This position has a focus on external engagement predominantly in Sweden (but also other Nordic countries in line with Business needs); estimated time in field/ field-focussed activities of 2-3 days per week.
