About This Job:

As a market access and government affair lead you will develop pricing & access strategy in South Africa. This can be achieved by collaborating with cross-functional and matrix teams across Astellas. You play a pivot role in planning & evaluating Health Economic (HE) data, in consultation with the Regional Health Outcomes Team, to tailor quality health-economic data and supporting HE arguments, on time and on budget, to support the reimbursement of the products across Astellas strategic portfolio.

Key Activities:

  • Lead the creation of local market access strategies for pipeline and commercialized products to ensure access for patients in the broadest licensed patient populations.
  • Co-create value messages, for both pipeline and commercialized products, in accordance to the changing healthcare environment.
  • Support the development and implementation of innovative pricing and reimbursement strategies using value-based methodologies, risk sharing etc.
  • Capture optimal product value and support commercial strategy and product positioning for new product launches and line extensions.
  • Maintain updated stakeholder mapping & ensure well-organized stakeholder engagement with a particular emphasis on building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with private sector payors
  • Lead the development of strategic initiatives to drive the growth of Astellas portfolio in South Africa
  • Engage with stakeholders across the healthcare system including but not limited to government agencies, Council of Medical Schemes, Funders to communicate policy positions and identify opportunities to improve access to current and future Astellas products

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Experience in local pricing and market access issues and needs.
  • Existing relationships with direct and indirect policy makers and tertiary policy influencers (both government and non-government)
  • Proven experience of launching innovative products into the South African market supported by a robust market access strategy
  • Strong communication & collaboration, working cross-functionally within matrix structures

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Candidate having experience in Oncology therapeutic area is desirable 

Educations/Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Marketing or equivalent.

  • This is a permanent, full time position 
  • The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa
  • Candidates should be based in South Africa
  • This position follows our hybrid working model. Role is a blend of work from home and a minimum of 3 days in our Johannesburg office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
