The Opportunity:

As a Medical Affairs Co Lead, you will be accountable for leading the development and execution of the local medical strategy and all Medical Affairs deliverables at the affiliate level, ensuring alignment with overall business goals, leading cross-functional teams, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders both locally and globally by understanding the local external environment and data gaps to translate insights into strategies and activities that fulfill the information needs of key stakeholders for the safe and appropriate use of Astellas products, ensuring all Medical Affairs deliverables are scientifically and medically valid and bring value to patients while contributing to the co-creation of the regional vision and strategy.

You will be part of an inclusive team that works to develop innovative therapies for patients.

Key Activities for this role:

  • Partner with Medical Affairs affiliate leaders to ensure the execution of affiliate strategic medical plans for the Brand aligned with the global Core Medical Plan, where applicable.
  • Data generation capabilities include the design and execution of clinical studies, sponsored studies, collaborative studies, and real-world evidence.
  • Understand the reimbursement challenges in the country and how best to create value for the product, with the efficacy and safety of the product.
  • Effectively lead Medical Affairs launch excellence and serve as launch execution liaison between Medical Affairs and Commercial.
  • Lead operational planning and execution of Medical Affairs advisory boards to understand and shape medical strategies.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Scientific or medical experience in the research-based pharmaceutical industry within Medical Affairs and/or Medical Affairs & Development.
  • Experience working in a leadership capacity, including proven team management skills and regional matrix leadership.
  • Demonstrates strong capabilities such as leadership and decision making, communication and collaboration, strategic thinking, technical expertise, problem solving, and adaptability.
  • Strong working knowledge of local Regulatory/Payer/HTA bodies, ICH GCP guidelines, Industry regulations, and quality standards

Education/Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in health-related Science or equivalent.

  • This position requires you to be 100% in the Astellas office in Milan, Italy.
