The Opportunity:

As Precision Medicine Global Medical Affairs Lead (Established-Market) at Astellas Pharma, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the medical affairs strategy for biomarkers and companion diagnostics (CDx) within our oncology portfolio. Accountable for supporting the development and execution of impactful medical and scientific initiatives, you’ll help address unmet clinical needs and elevate patient care. Your contributions will be vital to our mission to “Change Tomorrow™” by ensuring innovative therapies reach those who need them most.

Key Activities for this role:

  • Support the development of effective medical and scientific strategies for companion diagnostics (biomarkers) for oncology products in early development and pre-/post-launch phases
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to support diagnostic business and medical objectives
  • Assess external medical perspectives and insights on regional medical strategies for companion diagnostics and precision medicine
  • Identify and engage with key opinion leader pathologists and pathology organizations for insight generation and study collaboration
  • Provide expertise in medical diagnostics and review non-promotional medical materials to ensure clinical and scientific accuracy

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Significant medical affairs experience in companion diagnostics development within the pharmaceutical industry, or equivalent experience in the diagnostics sector
  • Deep understanding of industry trends, regulatory environments, and market access pathways for companion diagnostics
  • Proven leadership in driving companion diagnostics and precision medicine initiatives within a pharmaceutical or diagnostics organization
  • Strong scientific analytical and problem-solving skills, with strategic acumen and project management expertise
  • Fluent in written and spoken business English

Preferred Experience:

  • Medical specialty or experience in a relevant therapeutic area and companion diagnostics
  • Professional experience across multiple cultures, countries, or regions

Education:

  • MD, PhD, or PharmD or equivalent.

Additional Information:

  • Type of role full-time permanent.
  • Location UK office (Addlestone).
  • This position follows our hybrid working model. The role requires a blend of home and minimum 1 day per quarter in our UK office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
