About the role:

As Senior Medical Scientific Liaison, Haematology/Oncology, you will be responsible for implementing the medical strategy linked to the Brand Plan by creating scientific relationships with experts and opinion leaders in their therapeutic area.

You will act as a link between the Medical department, the Business Unit, Market Access and Healthcare Professionals in order to ensure scientific medical support and advice on our current and future products align with Company's strategy and Compliance policy.

You will be playing a vital role in the organization by developing relationships and engaging in scientific exchange, strengthening the positioning of the products and cooperating with colleagues from other departments as well. Cross-functional collaboration is integral to this role's daily tasks. You will split your time working in the field and home-office.

In this role, you will:

  • Engage in scientific exchange in which knowledge about products, diseases and therapeutic areas is shared to ensure safe and effective use of Astellas products.
  • Engage external stakeholders in one-on-one interactions and group settings, demonstrating an excellent scientific and clinical knowledge as well as an understanding of stakeholder needs.
  • Provide timely and scientific advice and responses to the different questions raised or specific requests for information from health professionals, sales, marketing or market access areas, through personal meetings, delivery of documentation or approved scientific presentations.
  • Support Medical Education activities.
  • Identify Key External Experts (KEE) in alignment with Medical Strategy and develop and maintain professional relationships with them by providing support and engaging in scientific exchanges.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Proven experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or in the medical field (e.g. Medical Affairs, Product Management, Clinical Research or Academia)
  • Proven experience in Haematology or related therapeutic areas.
  • Knowledge of the health organization structures, reference hospitals, KEE's in the reference area and evaluation committees of the Autonomous Regions.
  • Team player but also able to work independently.
  • Solid analytical, communications and organizational skills.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health-Related Sciences or equivalent, Master’s degree in Sciences, Business Administration or equivalent, or Medical Scientific Liaison studies or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish languages.

  • This is a permanent, full-time position.
  • Location: This position is based in Madrid, Spain.
  • This position is field-based in Madrid, and 80% travel is expected in line with your role.
