Astellas’ Global Capability Centres – Overview
Astellas’ Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and to co-locate core capabilities that are currently dispersed. Our three GCCs are located in India, Poland and Mexico.
The GCCs will enhance our operational efficiency, resilience and innovation potential, enabling a timely response to changing business demands.

Location and Working Environment
GCC POLAND: This is a permanent role based in our Global Capability Centre in Warsaw, Poland and hybrid working with the expectation for some office presence. Flexibility may be required in line with business need. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office

Purpose & Scope
- To drive clear, consistent, and strategic communications across International Markets and Established Markets (excluding the US, China, and Japan), translating global priorities into relevant, actionable messaging for local affiliates and ensuring strong alignment between global and regional communications.
- You will act as a senior communications partner to regional Leadership Teams, providing strategic counsel to support business priorities and protect company reputation.
- Coordinate the flow of communications between global and local teams, ensuring global narratives, campaigns, and initiatives are effectively adapted and implemented across markets.
- Enable affiliates with timely, contextualized communications and gather market insights to inform and strengthen global planning.
- Lead and deliver key communications activities in a player-coach model, influencing without direct reports and building capability across affiliate communicators.
Role and Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor and thoughtful partner to the International Markets Region and Established Markets Region Leadership Teams, helping drive strategic alignment across regions.
- Provide strategic communications counsel to regional leaders, affiliate and area communicators, and senior stakeholders; ensure alignment to enterprise narratives and priorities while balancing regional needs and market realities.
- Act as a key bridge between global and local markets, ensuring non-co-creation affiliates understand what is coming from global brand teams, have timely access to materials and context, and are equipped for effective local pull-through.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with regional and affiliate communicators across all affiliates outside the US, China, and Japan to ensure alignment, enable localization, and maximize impact.
- Coach and enable affiliate communicators through influence (no direct authority), including sharing best practices, providing feedback, and supporting capability building so local teams can execute communications with confidence and consistency.

- Support affiliates and regional leadership with change communications guidance that helps translate transformation, new ways of working, portfolio evolution, and shifting business priorities into clear and relevant local communications.
- Plan and execute executive communications for regional senior leaders (as appropriate), including leadership messaging, presentations, announcements, and Q&As.
- Provide frameworks, messaging guidance, and contextual support that help affiliates reinforce understanding of strategy, objectives, values, and direction across diverse audiences.
- Elevate awareness of Astellas and build trust with external stakeholders, including industry, government bodies, patient groups, customers, media, and the broader public.
- Providing inputs communications materials (e.g., press releases, Q&As, key message frameworks, executive materials, press kits, corporate advertising) representing the interest of affiliates, ensuring they are fit for purpose, compliant, and adaptable for affiliate use.
- Collaborate across CMAC as one team—agile, flexible, and enterprise-first—to deliver integrated communications outcomes.
- Manage a broad and complex scope with strong prioritization, sound judgment, and an outcome-focused mindset, balancing competing demands and multiple concurrent requests to deliver the highest-value work.
Required Qualifications
- BS or BA degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or related field.
- Substantial years of increasing corporate communications or public relations experience, preferably in healthcare/life sciences.
- Strong external communications expertise, including media engagement and media relations fundamentals.
- Broad communications experience spanning brand, internal, and external communications, with the ability to integrate these disciplines in support of business and reputation priorities.
- Proven ability to provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders and manage complex, multi-stakeholder communications across global, regional, and local environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead without authority and deliver through influence in matrix, cross-cultural, multi-market environments, including capability building across affiliate communicator networks.
- Proven compliance mindset and experience working productively with Ethics & Compliance and Legal reviewers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working above country level across multi-market regions.
- Experience in brand/product communications in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
- Experience in consultancy/agency and in-house environments.
- Demonstrated coaching capability and ability to build capability across affiliate communicator networks.
- Self-starter, able to initiate, drive and share strategic communications initiatives
- Flexible and solutions driven approach to work
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure joint projects / programmes align with the objectives set out
- Should be comfortable and confident in dealing with colleagues from elsewhere in the organisation including at senior level (up to CEO)
