The Opportunity:
As the Head, Clinical Operations, Vendor Management Strategy and Oversight, you will be responsible for managing activities related to business and operations processes and systems utilised by the Functional Unit.
This includes developing strategies, procedures, and program management for all activities associated with vendor management and oversight, quality, and compliance and ensuring overall achievement of Functional Unit annual plan and objectives through strategic guidance and advice in alignment with current Astellas Corporate Strategic Plan.
Your role reports to Head, Data Science, Business & Operations Management (Executive Director). This position is based in Warsaw, Poland.

Key Responsibilities:
- Providing Vendor Management Strategy and Oversight - Ensuring compliance with vendor management processes and procedures and proposing future improvements. This involves co-developing and executing sourcing strategies with Procurement, considering vendor performance and business risk. Additionally, monitoring the external industry environment for operational benchmarks, outsourcing trends, and competitive cost parity.
- Collaborating with cross-functional leaders to create strategies that align with business needs, adapt as necessary, and regularly update senior leaders and stakeholders on vendor management strategies.
- Taking accountability for Quality and Continuous Improvement; performance, resource management, and work allocation for measuring and monitoring performance standards with vendors and to assess progress, risks, and mitigations plans.
- Establishing the methodology of outsourcing activities from the concept to planning, to transitioning activities to the vendor(s) through to steady state.
- Building and leading the team. Taking accountability to establish strategy and governance for oversight of all Functional Unit operational processes.
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
- Demonstrable and significant time spent in a global leadership role.
- Extensive number of years of relevant work experience within the pharmaceutical industry experience and good understanding of responsibilities and processes in one or more functional areas.
- Portfolio planning, forecasting, and budgeting skills and experience.
- Functional Unit experience required.
- Quality, compliance, and/or inspection/audit experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with Project Management methodology preferred.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Additional Information:
- This is a permanent, full-time position.
- Limited travel requirement <5%.
- The position is located in Warsaw, Poland.
- This position follows our hybrid working model. Role requires a blend of home and a minimum of 2 days per week in our local office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
