Location and Working Environment

  • This is a permanent, field-based role dedicated to the Austrian regions of Wien, Oberösterreich, Niederösterreich, Burgenland and Steiermark

Purpose & Scope

  • As Key Account Manager (Hematology/AML), you play a critical role in driving business performance across a defined territory within Astellas’ Oncology Business Unit. You are responsible for developing strategic partnerships with healthcare stakeholders, executing tailored account plans, and identifying opportunities to improve patient outcomes in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, you ensure effective customer engagement while navigating complex healthcare ecosystems and evolving market dynamics. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for healthcare professionals, hospital networks, and key stakeholders within assigned accounts
  •  Develop and execute strategic account plans based on local hematology and AML market insights
  •  Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Marketing, and other internal partners to maximize impact
  •  Drive educational activities, product presentations, and training initiatives to support appropriate product use and patient care
  •  Analyze account performance, market trends, and KPIs while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards

Required Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including exposure to oncology, hematology, immunology, rare diseases, or related specialty areas
  •  Proven track record in Key Account Management with responsibility for a defined territory and customer portfolio
  •  Strong understanding of healthcare account ecosystems, treatment pathways, procurement processes, and clinical decision-making
  •  Experience managing complex stakeholder networks, including KOLs, physicians, pharmacists, and payers
  •  Fluency in German and English, with strong communication and relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the “Pharmareferentenprüfung” is required and considered an essential qualification for this role.
  • Advanced qualification in Pharmacology, Life Sciences, Medicine, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Experience in hematology and/or oncology is highly advantageous
  • Demonstrated success in product launches or driving uptake in specialized therapeutic areas is desirable
  • Strong scientific acumen combined with strategic thinking and commercial drive preferred
