Location and Working Environment 

  • This position is field-based in the UK and involves travel as needed in the UK, and Europe and will also include staying away/overnight stays.
  • Valid passport is required.
  • Able to drive with current/valid driving license.

Purpose & Scope 

  • Ready to lead from the front? This is a player-manager role where you'll spend approximately 70% of your time leading, coaching and developing a high-performing Key Account Management team, and 30% partnering with strategic customers and priority accounts to drive business impact.
  • You'll lead the local Oncology and Haematology (Precision Medicine) business, translating strategy into execution, delivering sustainable sales growth, and ensuring exceptional customer engagement. Working across teams, you'll shape local business plans, optimise resources, and inspire your team to achieve outstanding results.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Embedding a strong compliance culture across the business, ensuring Integrity in Action is reflected in all activities, fostering ethical behaviour within the Precision Medicine function, leading by example, appropriately challenging non-compliance, and ensuring adherence to Astellas ethics, compliance and engagement standards when interacting with Healthcare Professionals, Healthcare Organisations and Patient Organisation.
  • Driving sales performance and business objectives, optimising P&L performance, and leading the successful execution of regional business and resource plans.
  • Leading and coaching the Key Account Management team while managing strategic customer accounts and projects, guiding account planning, approving strategic objectives, and shaping measurable business goals.
  • Understanding the evolving healthcare landscape, leading high-impact customer engagements, supporting the compliant uptake of Precision Medicine solutions, and allocating sales, operational and promotional resources to maximise regional performance.
  • Coaching and developing Key Account Managers through field visits, performance feedback, and capability-building to drive high performance and compliant customer engagement.

Continue: Role and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring performance against business objectives, making timely interventions, and reporting progress to the Head of Sales.
  • Managing resource deployment, adapting to changing business needs, and monitoring and controlling costs and expenses.
  • Leading cross-functional collaboration, aligning internal stakeholders, and translating customer insights into effective account strategies and business plans.
  • Identifying development and training needs, strengthening strategic account management capabilities, and supporting continuous learning across the team.
  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-performing team through effective induction, performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Driving a culture of accountability, motivation, continuous improvement, and alignment with company values while investing in your own professional development.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards while maintaining the technical proficiency required to effectively use business systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent
  • ABPI qualification
  • Proven Pharma sales experience with strong customer focus; in multi-disciplinary, matrix 
  • Proven KAM management experience
  • Experience in Oncology/Haematology
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities across people leadership, business delivery and customer engagement.
  • Full and detailed understanding of the NHS and the commercial implications for Pharma companies
  • Proven compliance expertise; to understand and comply with industry laws and relevant regulations.
  • Coaching and collaboration skills to interact with all levels of personnel to achieve shared goals.
  • Demonstrable examples of ability to develop, coach and enable high performance teams and proactively promote best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Proven ability to influence, (appropriately) challenge and engage diverse senior stakeholders.
  • Valid passport and drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), influencing / persuasiveness skills -pro active
  • ‘Can do’ attitude - someone who gets things done - able to work on own as well as in teams
  • IT competent to use email and Microsoft Office e.g. excel based programmes for monitoring sales, investment return etc
