Astellas’ Global Capability Centres – Overview
Astellas’ Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and to co-locate core capabilities that are currently dispersed. Our three GCCs are located in India, Poland and Mexico.
The GCCs will enhance our operational efficiency, resilience and innovation potential, enabling a timely response to changing business demands.

Location and Working Environment
- This is a permanent role based in our Global Capability Centre in Warsaw, Poland and hybrid working with the expectation for some office presence. Flexibility may be required in line with business need. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.

Purpose & Scope
- Work within Astellas’ Gen AI POD, which manages enterprise-level generative AI tools (both in-house and vendor-based), focusing on evaluation, implementation, and ongoing ownership.
- Play a key role in an agile organization by supporting both Digital Execution (aligning teams to business goals) and Digital Capability (developing expertise and skills).
- Lead security architecture for AI systems, ensuring safe, ethical, and risk-aware design, deployment, and operation of AI, generative AI, and agentic solutions.
- Define and enforces AI security practices such as data protection, access control, threat mitigation, and incident response tailored to AI technologies.
- Collaborate with data science, engineering, and IT teams to integrate security and Responsible AI principles throughout the development lifecycle.
- Act as a technical leader and mentor, promoting best practices, educating teams on emerging risks, and strengthening the organization’s overall AI security and governance.
Role and Responsibilities
- Security Architecture Design: Develop and implement comprehensive security architectures for AI, Generative AI, and Agentic systems, including secure data handling, access controls, and threat mitigation strategies.
- Security Assessment and Review: Conduct security reviews specific to AI technologies and Integration. Identify vulnerabilities and develop strategies to address potential threats to AI systems.
- AI Security Controls: Design and enforce security controls tailored for AI and Generative AI applications. Ensure the secure deployment, operation, and maintenance of AI systems.
- Incident Response: Develop and test incident response plans to address potential breaches or security events for AI systems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and IT operations, to integrate security best practices and controls into AI development and deployment processes.
- AI Security Awareness: Stay informed about the latest trends, vulnerabilities, and advancements in AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI. Educate and train team members on security best practices and emerging threats.
Continue: Role and Responsibilities
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing security measures and tools. Implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance the security posture of AI systems.
- Integrated Solution Oversight: Oversee complex, integrated solutions by identifying architectural AI risks early, enforcing best practices, and guiding teams through the resolution of critical technical challenges, with a focus on ethical impact assessments and ensuring AI supports, rather than replaces, human expertise.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide architectural expertise and guidance to software and data engineers, mentoring teams on solution ai security controls, technical patterns, and best practices to drive consistent, high-quality outcomes, emphasizing responsible AI development and ethical considerations.
- Technology & Trends Evaluation: Continuously assess emerging technologies, architectural patterns, and industry trends, and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen and future-proof Astella’s AI governance platforms and processes.
Required Qualifications
- Deep understanding of AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI technologies, including machine learning models, neural networks, and data privacy issues.
- Expertise in native AI security controls for AWS, Azure, and GCP, in addition to security tools and frameworks related to AI, such as secure ML pipelines and AI specific threat detection, AI runtime security, vulnerability scanning, AI firewalls, etc..
- Familiarity with security standards and regulatory requirements related to AI and data protection.
