Engineering Production Technician (Capsules)

Based in our Killorglin, Kerry site. This role reports to the Engineering Production Supervisor.

Department Function:

Provide all manner of Engineering support to the Production group (Capsules) to ensure all shop floor schedules are met, to ensure all machines are correctly maintained, to ensure minimum levels of downtime are always maintained, etc.

Main Position functions:

Unplanned Maintenance

  • Respond in a timely manner to any reported unplanned maintenance.
  • Record all maintenance activities directly onto SAP.
  • Completed relevant documentation as required, ensuring accurate records are kept of work carried out, time taken, etc.
  • Carry out all work in a safe and cGMP compliant manner.
  • Ensure unplanned maintenance is kept to a minimum.
  • Prioritise unplanned maintenance to ensure all production schedules are maintained.
  • Develop troubleshooting and adjustment manuals and logs for equipment.

·       Ongoing monitoring of equipment to identify potential downtime risks and take preventive action.

·       Work overtime and respond to call out request as required to keep downtime due to maintenance requirements to a minimum.

Planned Maintenance

·       Carry out planned maintenance as per SAP PPM Schedule and on instruction from Supervisor.

·       Record all maintenance activities directly onto SAP.

·       Complete relevant documentation as required.

·       Carry out work in a safe and cGMP compliant manner.

·       Ensure planned maintenance does not impact on production schedules.

·       Prioritize planned maintenance to ensure all production schedules are maintained.

Technical

·       Employ root cause analysis techniques and approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.

·       Participate in and promote continuous improvement of production lines and processes. Identify areas for process improvement and follow through to implementation.

·       Assist other technicians with problem solving.

·       Provide technical support in your relevant field.

·       Stay up to date with developing technology relevant to your position. Participate in six sigma projects to ensure your continuous development.

·       Develop knowledge of other areas / equipment to allow flexibility across areas when assistance / back up is required.

·       Update Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions as required to reflect equipment modifications and introduction of new equipment.

·       Perform disassembly and reassemblies as required.

Spare Parts

·       Liaise directly with SAP Inventory Controller ensuring timely and accurate feedback on spare part requirements and issues. Ensure received spare parts are correct and report any specific problems.

·       Placing orders to replenish spare part stocks to ensure available supply of critical spares in stock. Including raising of PO’s.

·       Where necessary assist in the inventory control process.

·       Co-ordinate spare parts list for all new equipment and ensure SAP IC has all necessary details to provide required stock.

·       Ensure all controls are maintained when accessing spare parts outside of SAP IC hours.

Reporting

·       Report regularly to your supervisor.

·       Feedback potential problems quickly and accurately, e.g., resources, spare parts, technical issues, etc.

·       Attend meetings where required and provide feedback when requested.

·       Fully support your supervisor in the daily operation of the group.

Work autonomously on tasks to complete the above tasks.

Proactively ensure that all necessary measures are taken to ensure the quality of the product.

Essential Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum requirement: Certificate/Diploma in an Engineering discipline, or a trade qualification in an engineering discipline, or extensive engineering experience.
  • Previous Industrial/Pharmaceutical an advantage.
  • Experience required: cGMP, SAP Maintenance Processing, Six Sigma, FMEA, RCA
  • Supervision and control of external contractors working on production equipment.
  • Liaise with vendors to arrange onsite service visits.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work on one’s own initiative.
  • Good report writing and reviewing skills.
  • A very flexible approach to work and practices/procedures is required to ensure smooth running of the group.
  • Ability to work with IT systems.
